Joe Jernigan, President
Joe has nearly 40 years of experience buying, selling, leasing, managing, financing
and developing commercial and residential real estate. He helped form Real Estate
Associates in 1972 and continues to lead and distinguish REA as a forward-thinking
organization. Joe graduated from the University of North Carolina and holds a N.C.
Real Estate Broker License and Graduate Realtor Institute (GRI) designation. Additionally,
he holds a North Carolina General Contractor's license as Managing Member of J L
Jernigan General Contractor, LLC (Unlimited Status). He is active in various civic,
religious and professional organizations including: The Southwest Durham Rotary
Club, Greater Durham Chamber of Commerce, Epworth United Methodist Church, Durham
Regional Association of Realtors, Triangle Commercial Association of Realtors; and
International Council of Shopping Centers.

David O'Quinn, Vice President of Property Management
David has 29 years of experience managing investment real estate. Most of his experience
has been tailored to managing residential, income producing property and homeowners
associations; however, he has been directly involved with commercial leasing, management
and development during his 29 years with REA. David holds a degree in Accounting
and Business Administration from Hardbarger Junior College of Business. David also
holds a N. C. Broker License and is a member of The Durham Regional Association
of Realtors and The Triangle Multiple Listing Service. He is a former youth league
basketball and baseball coach and is a Trustee, Sunday School Director and Assistant
Treasurer at Wayside Baptist Church.

Seth Jernigan, CCIM, Vice President of Brokerage
Seth has been exposed to the real estate business all of his life. After graduating
from North Carolina State University with a degree in business/finance, he worked
with Accenture, a global management consulting firm in Charlotte, NC, where he learned
to apply a disciplined project management approach to complex business environments
to achieve positive results. Seth brought his consulting skills to REA in late 2003
and is focused on managing REA’s commercial brokerage division and business development
activities. Seth holds a N.C. Broker License and is an active member of the Triangle
Commercial Association of Realtors, The Durham Regional Association of Realtors,
The International Council of Shopping Centers and the Downtown Durham Rotary Club.
Seth was also awarded the prestigious Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM)
designation in 2008. Only 6 percent of the estimated 150,000 commercial real estate
practitioners nationwide hold the CCIM designation, which reflects not only the
caliber of the program, but also why it is one of the most coveted and respected
designations in the industry.

Joyce Roberts, Financial Controller
As Financial Controller, Joyce oversees all accounting functions and financial regulation
compliance at REA. She is a graduate of Western Carolina University where she earned
a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a major in accounting.
Joyce grew up in a family of real estate developers and throughout her professional
career, has worked in the real estate asset management industry. Before joining
REA, Joyce held the position of Regional Controller for a major hotel management
company. She has been a member of the REA team since 1997.

John Bowden, III, Director of Residential Leasing
John has 30 years of experience leasing residential property, spending the last
17 years with REA. Property types under John's direction range from single-family
homes to multi-family complexes. John holds a N.C. Real Estate License as well as
the Graduate Realtor Institute (GRI) designation. He is also a member of the Durham
Association of Realtors. John is a graduate of the University of North Carolina.

Maria Arenas, Residential Leasing Manager
Maria joined Real Estate Associates in 2007 as Residential Leasing Manager. Her
primary focus is residential property leasing. As an undergrad, Maria attended Campbell
University and was a member of the CU Golf Team. She also graduated with a Masters
in Business Administration from the Lundy-Fetterman School of Business. Maria holds
a North Carolina Real Estate License.

Paul Lindblad, Director of Service Operations
Paul oversees the day-to-day service work required to maintain our residential and
commercial properties, coordinating the REA in-house service department staff, sub-contractors,
and vendors as well as communicating with property owners. Paul gained experience
in customer relations and delivery of service while working with a major, regional
newspaper before joining Real Estate Associates over 12 years ago. Paul is an active
member of New Horizon Church and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

James Bastic, Commercial Property Manager
Jim joined Real Estate Associates in 2007 as a Commercial Property Manager. Jim
has extensive property management experience, having managed millions of square
feet of commercial space comprised of office buildings, retail centers, and industrial/flex
space. He has managed property in the Midwest and Dallas working for a national
real estate firm, and more recently, managed a portfolio here in the Triangle working
for a regional firm. Jim holds a North Carolina Real Estate Broker License and has
earned the prestigious CPM designation. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in
Political Science from Western Illinois University. Jim enjoys swimming, photography
and family time with his young grandchildren. Jim is also an active member of Sovereign
Grace Church.

Sandy Allen, Commercial Broker
Charles S. (Sandy) Allen is a lifelong resident of the Durham area and a graduate
of the Realtors Institute at UNC-CH. He began his real estate career in 1977 with
Griffin Associates, and later joined Chesson Realty as Sales Manager of residential
sales. In 1982, Sandy became Vice President of Allenton Commercial where he was
a leader in both the lease and sale of numerous commercial properties for 16 years.
When Allenton merged with Anthony & Co. of Raleigh in 1998, Sandy stayed on as Broker-in-Charge
of the Durham office and continued his achievements there until joining Real Estate
Associates in 2009. Sandy is highly regarded among his peers for his outstanding
work and his personal integrity. In his spare time, Sandy enjoys playing golf, watching
sports, and spending time with his two daughters and his Miniature Schnauzer.

Jim P. Boyd, Commercial Broker
Jim’s real estate career spans over 40 years. He is the former Vice President of
Commercial Sales for Southland Associates and former Vice President at Allenton
Commercial. Prior to joining REA, Jim was a leading salesman at Anthony & Co.’s
Durham office. His vast real estate experience includes the sales and development
of office, industrial, retail, land, subdivisions and multi-family residential properties.
Jim is a career-long member of the National Association of Realtors and Triangle
Commercial Association of Realtors. He also serves on the Board of Directors for
Habitat for Humanity. Jim is a former Marine, and in his spare time enjoys hunting,
fishing, and climbing mountains, including Mt. Kilimanjaro, Mt. Ranier, and Mt.
Whitney. He is also the proud father of two sons: one in medical school and one
pursuing a law degree.

Ron Perkins, Commercial Broker
Ron has been involved in commercial real estate for over twenty-five years. Before
joining Real Estate Associates, Ron was with Anthony & Co. Commercial Real Estate
where he worked in the sales and leasing of industrial, office and retail properties
as well as land sales. Prior to this Ron was Facilities Manager for Central Carolina
Bank where he handled all real estate purchases and dispositions, as well as bank
site development and construction. He holds the RPA (Real Property Administrator)
and FMA (Facilities Management Administrator) designations from the Building Owners
and Managers Institute. As a Person County resident, Ron serves on the Board of
Directors of the Roxboro Rotary Club and is a member of the Person County Board
of Adjustment. He also serves as Treasurer of the Antioch Baptist Church in Timberlake.

Jaime Schumaker, Commercial Associate
Jaime joined Real Estate Associates in 2008 as a Commercial Associate. Her primary
focus is marketing and commercial leasing, with some involvement in commercial property
management and business development activities. A lifelong resident of the Triangle
area, Jaime graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with
a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism/Mass Communications and Psychology. She
also holds a North Carolina Real Estate Broker License.
